Summary of Girls, Interrupted
Will and Jack are on their way out to a gay club when they see Grace madly fighting the bugs that are infesting her apartment. Grace wants to join them, but they say it's boys' night out. When the elevator arrives, they see Val (Will's friend from Season 1, Episode 18) making faces in to the security camera. Neither Grace nor Val have anything to do that night, so they end up hanging out and watching TV and having a great time together. At the end of the night, Grace notices that the music box her father gave her for her batmitzvah is missing from her mantle. Will suggests that Val might have taken it. Grace defends her new friend, but the next day drags Will up to Val's apartment to look for her prized possession. Using her keys as co-op president, they break in and immediately find the music box on the coffee table. Just then, Val comes home. They pretend that they thought they smelled a gas leak, and use that to explain why they're in her apartment. She gets them juice, and they start to chat. Grace tries to confront Val about the music box sitting in plain sight on the coffee table, but somehow can't get up the guts to do it. Finally, Will asks Val about the music box, and she tries to pull off that it's hers, but finally Grace loses her patience and grabs for it. They end up in another cat-fight, injuring Will in the process. Grace and Will return to Will's apartment, Grace carrying her music box and apologizing to a limping Will. Will asks Grace why she was so quick to defend Val earlier. Grace says she was excited to finally have a female friend to hang out with.
When Jack gets back from clubbing with Will and walks into the room he shares with Rosario in Karen's apartment, Karen is sitting on the bed sipping a martini hiding from Stan who just took his herbal Viagra. He shows Karen the cute picture of the guy he met at the club. Karen points out that it's not just a picture, it's a flyer for an organization called Welcome Back Home, which is for people that used to be gay but have given up the sinful lifestyle. Jack decides he can get the guy anyway, and he and Karen crash the meeting the next day pretending to be ex-gay converts. While Karen is off with all the ex-lesbians "learning" how to put on make-up, Jack and his new love, Bill, watch a basketball game like manly men. Jack keeps finding excuses to touch Bill, of course in very manly ways, until finally when the basketball game is over Jack asks Bill if he wants to hit the showers like the athletes. Jack assures Bill it would be heterosexual soaping. Bill is incredibly offended that Jack is hitting on him and starts to lecture Jack, and then the whole room, on how Welcome Back Home is not a gay pick-up scene. He tells everyone who is there to pick up gay people that they should leave now. Everyone in the room walks out. Bill is incredibly depressed, and finally agrees to hit the showers with Jack as long as it's all very heterosexual.
