Synopsis of Alice Doesn't Lisp Here Anymore

Grace finds out that a girl named Alice who she used to tease about her lisp in grade school has died. She decides to attend the funeral to apologize for her childhood actions. When she gets to the funeral, dragging Will along with her, she finds out it's her classmate's grandmother, who shares the name Alice, who died. Grace is ready to run, but Will convinces her to actually apologize to the still-alive Alice, who doesn't accept the apology gracefully. Grace is ready to call it quits, but Will convinces her stick around because he's attracted to Alice's brother, Gabe. Grace gets trapped into talking about the deceased, and uses the podium to convince Alice to forgive her. Alice then tries to start a friendship with Grace, and introduces her new friend to some of her speech-therapy students. Grace, who just burned her tongue on some very hot coffee, unfortunately lisps when greeting the students and offends Alice all over again. Will makes a move on Gabe, who is shocked and offended that anyone would hit on him at his own grandmother's funeral.

Jack is incredibly excited when he finds out that his cabaret act, Jack 2001, was nominated for a MAC award. He decides to be cool and send a video acceptance from a far away "movie location." As he and Karen are filming in Will and Grace's apartment, Karen runs to Jack's apartment to get something and overhears a message on Jack's machine letting him know that there was a mix-up, and he actually wasn't nominated for anything. When she returns to tell Jack, he is in the throes of realizing that this is the greatest thing that has ever happened to him, and his heart breaks when he finds out the truth. Karen manages to cheer him up with a cute guy, some jewelry and a fat check.
